From May 29 to 31, the RISE-SD Research and Innovation Symposium for European SECURITY and Defense took place in the city of Rhodos, Greece.
During the event, a detailed description of the VALKYRIES project was presented to the audience, including information on the first use case, a fire drill that took place in early May between the borders of Spain and Portugal.
The VALKYRIES project was presented as a success story at FEINDEF, Spain's most important defense and security forum, held in Madrid on May 17-19.
During the presentation, attendees were able to learn about the project and see the project tools in action.
On 28th March, some VALKYRIES partners, including INDRA, SUMMA, TASSICA, PARTICLE and healthcare students, They met at the IFISE. met to carry out the first test of the integration of triage resources in INDRA iSafety, the overall visualisation of the common operational picture, tracking of resources and victims in PARTICLE AWARE. The visualisation of first responders in INDRA Hybrid Twin Lab and the use of the TASSICA triage application, implemeting a fully digital triage process.
All tools were integrated into SIGRUN, based on the AWARE tool developed by PARTICLE, so that emergency information and actions could be visualised at all times, making it easier and faster for the incident commander to manage the emergency.
The VALKYRIES project was invited to the final pilot of , which took place last 16 th February 2023 in the port of Valencia (Valencia, Spain).Respond-A is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to improve the information management systems of the professionals of the emergency teams by combining different technologies, such as robots or drones.The pilot consisted of a simulation of a collision between two tankers with dangerous goods, which resulted in a supposed fire and a possible spill in the water (3 drones, vests with sensors for monitoring real-time health and around 100 attendees and great discussions). The objective of the event, organized by Fundación Valenciaport and Policía Local de Valencia, with the collaboration of the Autoridad Portuaria, was to validate in the port area the use of one of the tools developed in the project in an emergency situation.
The VALKYRIES project has been invited to be part of the Nicosa Risk Forum that will take place in Larnaca, Cyprus in November 15-16th.
The event is being organized by the Center of Excellence in Risk and Decision Sciences (CERIDES) and will bring together representative stakeholders and experts to discuss about the civil protection within South-Eastern Europe.
VALKYRIES will be presented by our partner Bulgarian Defence Institute.
In November 7-10th, a workshop on Community of European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS) - Disaster Resilient Societies (DRS) will take place in Brussels in a hybrid format, coordinated by ETH Zurich.
The VALKYRIES project has been invited to participate in these conferences and the project will be presented by the coordinator Juan Roman Arranz during the standardization session, together with other European projects such as STRATEGY, Aqua3S and PEERS.
In October the third plenary meeting of the project will take place. This time it will be held in Norway, hosted by the University of South-Eastern Norway. This event coincides with the start of the second and last year of the VALKYRIES project, so the work carried out during this first year will be reviewed as well as the planned actions for this year, which will culminate with the execution of the four demonstration use cases.
Soon the second Workshops of the project will take place in which both general aspects of the project and ethical and legal aspects and standardization will be discussed. These sessions will be attended by the members of the external advisory board as well as experts from outside the project, who will provide their feedback and recommendations on the progress and results of the project.
The Bulgarian Defence Institute will present the VALKYRIES project and its implication in the civil-military cooperation through a conference in the 3rd Workshop on Recent Advances in Cyber Situational Awareness on Military Operations (CSA 2022) that will be held on August 23-26th in conjunction with the ARES workshops EU Projects Symposium 2022 at 17th International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security.

The XXXII SEMES National Congress will take place in Vigo (Spain) on June 8-10th. During this event our partner Tassica will present the project through a recently accepted poster convering general information of VALKYRIES and specific objectives of SIGRUN reference integration.

On May 23-25th, the Computer, Privacy & Data Protection Congress will take place in Brussels in which the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies will participate with a paper entitled "Transitional (Legal) Times for R&D and R&I Sectors", on Wednesday 25 in the room "The Cave". This event will include the First Ethical and Legal Workshop, which will be attended by members of the external advisory board.

On May 18-20th, the second plenary of the project will take place in Pisa, in which representatives of each partner will attend.
In this meeting, the performance of the project to date will be analyzed and areas for improvement will be identified by the technical and management leaders in order to achieve the success of the project.
On November 5th 2021, the Project coordinator, Juan-Román Martínez Arranz, will present the VALKYRIES Project at the round table “Horizon Europe and civil security for society” that will take place at the International Defense Fair (FEINDEF) in Spain.

The VALKYRIES Kick-of-meeting took place on October 4th and 5th 2021 at Indra's facilities in Alcobendas, Spain.
Given the current situation of Covid-19, the event was held in a semi-face-to-face format.
With this event the project that will last for 24 months begins, as well as the development of its tasks, milestones and deliverables.
